Bioprocess Internship Programme
About The ProgrammeWith the establishment of Singapore as a global biologics manufacturing node with several large-scale facilities being built, our Bioprocess Internship Programme (BIP) has proved to be timely. The broad objective of this half-year programme is to prepare science and engineering graduates for entry into the biopharmaceutical industry with advanced, specialized knowledge and practical skills in four modules of expression engineering, cell culture, downstream processes, analytical techniques and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Upon completion, interns can work in the local pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry; go on overseas Strategic Attachment & Training (STRAT) programme supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB); join BTI as a Research Officer or pursue a postgraduate programme.

Staff and Student Exchanges
There are on-going staff and graduate student exchanges with our research collaborators at the University of Minnesota (USA) for CHO cell culture and genomics; at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (Austria) for downstream processing; and at the Netherlands Proteomics Centre (Utrecht University) for proteomic studies of stem cells. Attachments have been arranged with companies overseas which provide staff with a different research perspective and offer opportunities to learn new techniques or handle high-end instrumentation. BTI has also been host to many students from the USA, Europe, Australia and Asia.
